Dr. Md. MoqbulHossain is a soil, water and environmental scientist, and a RS-GIS specialist. He started his carrier as Scientific Officer in Soil Resource Development Institute (SRDI) in 1986 and retired from the same as the Chief Scientific Officer and Director, the head of the institute. He is specialized in the field of soil survey, land evaluation, land use planning, land degradation assessment and application of GIS and RS in natural resource management. During his 31 years of service in SRDI he was the lead scientist of several research projects financed by Government of Bangladesh, FAO, UNDP and SAARC Agricultural Center. He has published a number of research papers in international Journals related to soil, environment, arsenic contamination and saline soil management. He has also designed and implemented Online Fertilizer Recommendation System (OFRS), a soil test based digital fertilizer recommendation and Salinity Information System (SIS) through which farmers, all over the country, are getting crop specific soil test based fertilizer recommendation and monthly river water salinity information of the coastal regions of Bangladesh. He has got his Master degree from DU, Bangladesh and AIT, Thailand. He has received post graduate degree in soil survey using aerospace and remote sensing techniques form ITC, the Netherlands. He has got his PhD degree in civil engineering from SIIT, Bangkok, Thailand. Besides this he has received in GIS, RS, LUP training from Cranfield University, Bedford, U.K., KAMPSAX, Denmark, and DLD, Thailand,
